Cornelia Funke is a quirky and charming and a talented author and illustrator. In Portland, Oregon, I was privileged to sit next to her at an author dinner in her honor. We spent the evening, two old women, quietly conversing, while she drew pictures for the guests of their favorite animals. It was a lovely, memorable evening. -Susan
